Work with me
Positive and engaging, I work well both on an individual basis and as part of a team. I’m happy in front of choirs of any size and ability, helping to train either for a specific technical outcome or towards a public or competitive performance.
Singers, choirs and other professional musicians who work with me can expect enthusiasm, clear planning and a great rapport that helps to get the very most from the particular group or individuals I work with. Like all teachers, I moderate my approach and plan to the requirements and standards of the people I’m working with, so that no-one feels pressured or left behind.
Teaching
I teach singing, piano and music theory to adults and children, both as an ongoing practice and towards standard exams. For those studying for an exam I teach aural skills and sight-reading and musicianship skills which are also beneficial for general musical development.

I teach in schools, at my home, and also offer one-to-one small group lessons online via Zoom, Skype and FaceTime.

Conducting
I work both within teams of choral professionals and as an individual conductor. I can deputise for rehearsals when the music director is unavailable, take sectional rehearsals for large choirs or specific events, and train choirs in vocal techniques.

I conduct a wide range of music, from standard classical choral works to contemporary pieces and music written specifically for children. I have worked with choirs that participate in national and international competition, helping them to attain peak vocal and musical performance.
Workshops
I work with choirs of all types, including school, junior conservatoire and workforce choirs on a variety of workshops that are tailored to the needs of each choir.

This may be a standalone workshop on vocal technique, a session focusing on a particular work for adults, or event that helps people to develop listening skills through learning by ear rather than reading from a score. In the workplace, I can either work with an existing office choir or can provide dedicated team-building exercises built around singing.
I also run workshops for young people, on issues including vocal technique, developing confidence in their voices, and developing a team.
